Football : Cameroon clinch crucial win

New Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o, left, leads the Lions to victory [AFP]Samuel Eto'o and Achille Emana scored a goal each in the second half against hosts Gabon to lead Cameroon to a 2-0 win and keep alive their slim chances of qualifying for next year's World Cup.
Emama scored in the 66th minute and Eto'o doubled the lead for the Indomitable Lions three minutes later with his 40th goal for Cameroon, giving coach Paul Le Guen's his first win in his first official match.
Cameroon's first win in Group A takes them to four points from three games, and within two points of leaders Gabon.
Only the top team in each of the five qualifying groups will play in South Africa next year.
Change of leadership
Le Guen, formerly coach of Paris Saint-Germain, marked the start of his reign by stripping veteran defender Rigobert Song of the captaincy and giving Eto'o the armband.
Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong came off after 24 minutes and was replaced by Song.
Emana and Benoit Assou-Ekotto both picked up yellow cards as frustration began to get to Le Guen's team in Libreville.
Hundreds of soldiers were deployed around the stadium as the country's new president Ali Bongo arrived for the match in a convoy of SUVs as post-election violence continued for a third straight day.
On Friday, the country's constitutional court declared Bongo the winner of last weekend's divisive presidential race.
Soldiers in camouflage and anti-riot police in black uniforms set up a perimeter around the stadium and stood guard at every entrance. Fans were warned they would only be allowed inside if they had bought a ticket the day before.
Malawi win
Saturday September 5Group A Gabon 0-2 Cameroon Group C Rwanda 0-1 Egypt Group E Ivory Coast 5-0 B'kina Faso Malawi 2-1 Guinea
Substitute Chiukepo Msowoya scored twice to help Malawi record a come-from-behind home win against Guinea at Kamuzu Stadium in a joint World Cup and Africa Cup qualifier.
Malawi were 1-0 down when coach Kinnah Phiri sent on Msowoya to replace Dave Banda.
He scored two minutes into the second half, firing hard and low past the Guinea goalkeeper Kemoko Camara.
It proved to be the spur the home side needed after Guinea's Oumar Kalabane put the visitors in front in the 37th minute from a corner.
Msowoya's second goal was a bullet header from a Joseph Kamwendo corner in the 60th minute.
The victory was Malawi's first in four Group E qualifying games. Malawi now join Guinea on three points.
Dominant Drogba
Didier Drogba scored two goals to lead the Ivory Coast over Burkina Faso 5-0 and keep the team on track for qualification with a fourth straight win.
The Elephants have scored 15 goals in four matches in Group E and are one point away from reaching a second straight World Cup.
Drogba first scored in the 48th minute and then added another in the 65th to take his tally to 38 goals in 56 international matches.
Kader Keita and Yaya Toure also scored after the Ivory Coast had taken the lead in the 12th minute when Saidou Panandetiguiri scored an own-goal.
In Group C Egypt beat Rwanda 1-0 to keep alive their chances of qualification.
