Alisson Becker: We need to keep on going with the same mentality

Image
Alisson Becker challenged Liverpool to keep moving forward through the season with the same persistent mentality they displayed in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. The Reds overcame a tricky opponent at Anfield on Saturday afternoon thanks to Sadio Mane’s 100th goal for the club and fabulous finishes from Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita in the second half.  At the other end, Alisson offered a massive contribution to the victory with fine saves throughout and, when speaking to Liverpoolfc.com post-match, detailed his great satisfaction at an all-round team performance Ali, it was scrappy at times but it was a much-deserved three points at the end...  Yeah, it was. I think the scoresheet is amazing as well. But it was a really tough game, really good performance from us, consistency on the pitch, defending well. The chances the opponent had in the game weren't clear always – always we had a player there to go for the challenge and everything is easier for me and for th...

Alisson Becker relishing the return of 'rushing time'

Image
Alisson Becker wants Liverpool to build on an encouraging start to the season as the intensity of their fixture schedule ramps up in the coming weeks. The Reds collected seven points from their opening three games of the 2021-22 Premier League and begin a spell of seven matches in a little over three weeks at Elland Road this afternoon. Fixtures against Leeds United and Manchester City bookend a period that also includes outings in the Champions League and Carabao Cup – and Alisson is looking forward to what he terms ‘the rushing time’. FIFA confirms Brazilians clear to play against Leeds “I believe we are doing pretty well. A lot of things to improve but we start already playing good football, having really, really good moments during the matches,” the goalkeeper told Liverpoolfc.com, when asked to assess the team’s campaign to date. “Maybe we need to fight more for the consistency, I think, during the season – this is something that will come, we’ll play a more consistent game, d...

Liverpool finally beaten as Ismaila Sarr inspires brilliant Watford

Image
Defeat at Vicarage Road ended the Reds’ unbeaten run of 44 league games, meaning they fell short of matching Arsenal’s Invincibles from the 2003-04 campaign Liverpool manager  Jurgen Klopp  congratulated Watford after they became the first team in the Premier League this season to beat the Reds with a 3-0 win at Vicarage Road. A second-half brace from Ismaila Sarr put the Hornets in control before the Senegal attacker set up Troy Deeney 18 minutes from time to provide the cherry on top of a fine performance from Nigel Pearson’s side. It ended the Reds unbeaten run of 44 league games, meaning they fall short of matching Arsenal’s Invincibles from the 2003-04 campaign, who had gone the season and overall 49 matches without defeat. The first Premier League loss for Liverpool in over a year does little to their hopes of winning the title, but ensured they missed out on including equalling Manchester City’s run of 19 straight top flight wins. ...

Alisson Becker Received Samba Gold award

Alisson Becker today received the 2019 Samba Gold award at Melwood. The Liverpool No.1 became the first goalkeeper ever to win the individual accolade – presented to the Brazilian player voted the best in Europe – earlier this year. He collected the trophy on Thursday having helped the Reds to Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup glory and his country to Copa America success last year. Alisson received 35.54 per cent of the votes from fans, journalists and former players to edge out the previous winner – Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino. The stopper has registered 12 clean sheets in all competitions so far this season after returning from a two-month injury lay-off. Source:liverpoolfc.com

We are so happy with what we are doing said:Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker believes Liverpool's incredible form this season has been made possible by the squad taking enjoyment in their daily work. A record of 24 wins from 25 matches sees the Reds sit 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of their trip to Norwich City this weekend.  Pos. "We are just looking for our main goal and what is behind is behind.  "We have to focus on our quality. We have an amazing group with amazing players – one goes out, the other comes...

Virgil Van Dijk And Alisson Backer Contracts with Liverpool Renew

Image
Liverpool have put new contracts for Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson Becker to the top of their list of priorities, it is claimed. The centre-back and goalkeeper have been instrumental in the Reds’ rise since joining in January and summer 2018 respectively, with Liverpool only losing once in the Premier League during the time they have been together at the club. While Liverpool appear to have risen to a perch as the strongest club in the world, having won the Champions League and Club World Cup in 2019  and maintaining a huge lead in the Premier League this season , rumours surrounding interest in their top players has not gone away. Recently, it was claimed that Italian giants Juventus were plotting a huge bid for Van Dijk as they looked to take advantage of the Dutchman’s apparent willingness for a new challenge in the later years of his career. The Sun  claim that the Serie A champions’ interest is real,  and they would be willing to spend a club record £...

Liverpool Name Squad for Champions League Knockout Rounds

Image
Sepp van den Berg drops out to make room for new signing Takumi Minamino. With the January  transfer window  in the rearview mirror and the Champions League knockout rounds looming, it’s time for clubs still in Europe to select their squads for the second half of their campaigns. And thanks to a rule change spurred by Barcelona’s inability to register £150M signing Philippe Coutinho, new January signings are eligible to be included as long as they can fit within the regulations. Which means for the Reds, Takumi Minamino is in. To make room for him, young defender Sepp van den Berg has been dropped from the squad, hardly a surprise given the youth player didn’t play any role in the autumn and is generally seen as still needing time to adapt. The rest remains unchanged, which means there’s still not place for Nathaniel Clyne and if the Reds need fullback cover it will fall to either James Milner or Jordan Hend...

Alisson Becker: We cannot stop

Image
Liverpool were immediately thinking about their next match once the 2-0 win at West Ham United was secured, with Alisson Becker warning there is no alternative. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in either half at London Stadium sent the Reds 19 points clear at the top of the Premier League on Wednesday night. Pos. The goalkeeper was pleased by the result but reiterated the ‘don’t stop’ mentality that the leaders must maintain as they pursue their ambitions. “We always said, and we are always saying, we are focused on the next challenge and the next game,” the No.1 told L...
