Rhian Brewster to complete Swansea loan switch

Image
Rhian Brewster is set to complete his loan switch from Liverpool to Swansea in the next 24 hours. Liverpool agreed to let Brewster join Swansea for the rest of the campaign last week and delayed finalising the deal until after Sunday’s FA Cup win over Everton. Boss Jurgen Klopp wanted Brewster in his squad for the third-round tie and the teenage striker came off the bench at Anfield to make his third senior appearance for the Reds. Klopp is keen for Brewster to get some regular senior football and the 19-year-old played under Swans boss Steve Cooper when England won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017. Brewster won the tournament’s Golden Boot with eight goals and is happy to be reunited with Cooper. Leeds and Bristol City had also been linked with Brewster, but Swansea have won the race for his signature. Ref:dailymirror.co.uk

After making a blistering start at U18 level, Brewster soon celebrated his U23s debut by finding the net during a 3-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League Cup on January 22, 2017. In October 2017, Brewster played a major part in helping England U17s to World Cup glory in India. Brewster finished the tournament as top scorer, with seven of his eight goals coming in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. Returning to Liverpool, he was named in a first-team matchday squad for the first time at the age of 17 for a home Premier League clash with Crystal Palace back in April 2017. Brewster's 2017-18 season was ended in January after suffering ligament damage to his right ankle following a heavy fall during Liverpool U23s' encounter with Manchester City in January 2018. ...
