Liverpool's real chances of winning the Champions League calculated ahead of Genk match
The Reds are Champions of Europe, but aren't favourites to win the tournament this year according to data.
The model currently has Manchester City, who have won their opening two group stage matches, as favourites, while Bayern Munich, who were knocked out by Liverpool in last season's round-of-16, are second. Liverpool have remained in third position in the rankings ever since the groups were drawn in August.
The rankings are determined using 'SPI data', which measures a team's overall strength and designates an offensive and defensive rating for each club. Those ratings are then used to figure out whether team is more or less likely to win a match against a competitor.
