The importance of Fabinho to Liverpool has never been clearer. As he limped off in the first half of the Champions League draw with SSC Napoli this week, there was an unspoken concern among supporters that the Reds were losing much more than a midfielder.
Those initial fears have been confirmed, with the club confirming the Brazilian has sustained ankle ligament damage. Although no official prognosis has been given yet, early suggestions put his recovery time at around six to eight weeks. He will certainly miss the entirety of December, the month which could make-or-break Liverpool's efforts for Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup glory.
Liverpool.com have already looked at what this means for the individuals in fa's midfield. Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana have all featured as a no.6 over the past 12 months, while switching to 4-2-3-1 would be another option (although its use last season coincided with the emergence of Fabinho into the first-team set-up).
