Leicester City's surprise slip underlines the importance of Liverpool's relentless consistency

The Reds navigated past a spirited Watford side are were rewarded as the Foxes dropped points at home to Norwich City on Saturday.

Mohamed Salah celebrates scoring his team's first goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Watford at Anfield

As Mohamed Salah turned the ball home in the dying seconds at Anfield for his, and Liverpool's second of the match against Watford, it capped off a fantastic week for the club, although the biggest boost was yet to come.
Three consecutive, much-welcomed clean sheets, have been the icing on the cake for Liverpool.
Salah has returned to something approaching his best with three goals, including a superb strike against Red Bull Salzburg, whilst at the other end of the field, Joe Gomez seems to be rediscovering his best form since returning from injury, having partnered Virgil van Dijk at some stage in all three victories.
Throw in a new contract for Jurgen Klopp until 2024, James Milner extending his stay and of course, and the news that Takumi Minamino looks set to become Liverpool's first signing in 18 months once the January window opens, and things looked like they couldn't get better.
But they did, at 5pm.

It seemed like the most sure-fire result of the weekend that Liverpool would continue their relentless pursuit of the Premier League title against the division's bottom club.
However, the Premier League doesn't do sure-fire results. Just ask Leicester City and Manchester City, the Reds' nearest title challengers.
On the back off eight straight Premier League wins, the Foxes have emerged as the biggest threat to Liverpool's top spot.
However, they weren't quite at the races, forced to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Norwich City, extending the Reds' lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
"Leicester will be gutted, you need to win your home games to win the Premier League but they will have off days," Clinton Morrison told Sky Sports after the full-time whistle, having watched the match for Soccer Saturday.
"Maddison was very quiet, he's been superb all season but sometimes you need some of your other big players to step up to the plate."
Morrison has a point. Every team seems to have an off day. Except for Liverpool at the moment.
When Liverpool aren't at their best, as has been the case at times this season, they still find a way to get the job done, time and time again.
Whilst victory over Watford was predicted by many, no result in the Premier League should be a given, yet Klopp's side appears to be entering new territory with their consistency.
When the star man doesn't turn up for Leicester, like Maddison and Jamie Vardy, they drop precious points. For Manchester City, their defence has crumbled without Aymeric Laporte.
Yet Liverpool have missed Fabinho, Alisson and Joel Matip for long periods of the season and have got the job done.
Leicester dropping points at home to Norwich was the bonus no one saw coming, and their true title credentials will now face the most severe test yet in their next two league encounters against Manchester City, and then Liverpool on Boxing Day.
