No, Jordan Henderson isn't the best midfielder in the world, but that's what Jürgen Klopp wants
Flamengo's coach Jorge Jesus described Jordan Henderson as "the best midfielder in the world in his position" this week, and while that might be a slight stretch, he's absolutely perfect for Liverpool's system.
Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus inadvertently caused quite a stir on social media this week as he referred to Jordan Henderson as "the best midfielder in the world in his position" while speaking to Portuguese news channel CMTV.
Now, despite the predictably hysterical reactions in some quarters online, it's not actually all that outlandish an assertion, given that Henderson has been an absolutely integral cog in a Liverpool side which has just gone an entire calendar year unbeaten in the Premier League, and is currently widely acknowleged as the best club side on the planet.
Over the past six weeks or so in particular, Henderson has been performing at arguably the highest level of his career in the absence of Fabinho – who many would have no issue labelling as the world's best defensive midfielder – with Liverpool winning all seven league games without the Brazilian, and keeping clean sheets in all of the last five.
