Atletico Madrid stun Liverpool in extra-time to send holders crashing out of Champions League

Atletico Madrid pulled off a stunning extra-time comeback to beat Liverpool 3-2 (4-2 agg) and dump the holders out of the Champions League.
Three goals in extra-time sent the Spanish club through to the quarter-finals after the Reds dominated for the whole night and briefly went ahead in the tie.
Having entered the clash 1-0 down, a dominant Liverpool got the goal they needed through Georginio Wijnaldum and should’ve ended things in normal time.
Roberto Firmino finally put the Reds in front early into extra-time, before absolute chaos ensued at Anfield.
A howler from Adrian gifted the visitors a priceless away goal through Marcos Llorente, and they were in dreamland when the substitute struck again before on 105 minutes.
With Liverpool chasing an unlikely two goals, Alvaro Morata, another substitute, ran up the other end and completed an extraordinary turn of events in the dying moments.

In a tale of two goalkeepers, the LaLiga side’s Jan Oblak showed why he is one of the world’s best by single-handedly holding the visitors at bay in the second half as shots rained down on his goal.
By contrast Adrian, the goalkeeper who did not have a club in the summer and who was standing in for the injured Alisson Becker, had a shocking nine minutes in extra time.
For once Anfield could not deliver one of its famous comebacks as Klopp lost his first two-legged tie as Liverpool manager at the 11th attempt, with Alvaro Morata adding a third in the 120th minute.
