HUGE CHANGE How Liverpool have gone from Premier League champions-elect to dancing up some stairs and rationing tea bags
A thought may be entering the heads of some Liverpool fans at the moment: ‘We could be Premier League champions now’.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been near-perfect in the Premier League this season, winning 27 of their 29 matches.
They’re a massive 25 points clear at the top of the table and only need two more wins to be guaranteed their first league title in 30 years.
However, those two wins will feel a million miles away as circumstances regarding the coronavirus outbreak has put the season on hold until April 3 at the very earliest.
The obstacles that the world will face because of coronavirus will be very difficult so whether Liverpool become champions or not is not important in the grand scheme of things.
Nevertheless, Kopites will have a right to feel some disappointment as Monday could have been the night where three decades of hurt were finally going to end.
And what would have made it better is that they could have sealed the title when playing away at Merseyside rivals Everton on Monday.
Admittedly, it would have been a tough ask as Liverpool would have had to win at Goodison Park while also relying on Burnley to beat the Reds’ nearest title rivals, Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium last weekend but it’s not to be for now.
Like the rest of us, the Liverpool players are keeping a low profile at home, although some of them have managed to keep themselves (and us) entertained.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain lifted the mood of fans when he and popstar girlfriend Perrie Edwards filmed themselves dancing up some stairs in his house.
