Liverpool injury news: Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino as attention turns to Norwich City Carabao Cup clash
Liverpool will have little time to rest following their victory over Crystal Palace.
A 3-0 win over the Eagles at Anfield was a good result but with another match just around the corner it means that Jurgen Klopp will have work to do.
The Reds face Norwich City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and have a number of selection dilemmas to field before them.
With that in mind here’s the latest injury news ahead of the clash at Anfield.
Roberto Firminolian forward missed the weekend’s clash with Palace.
Firmino was recalled to the starting line-up for the clash with Chelsea before the international break but was forced off with a hamstring injury.
Speaking ahead of the Palace clash, Jurgen Klopp said: “He’s not ready. Bobby won’t start training with the team until some time next week. Then we will have to wait and see.”
Harvey Elliott
The promising midfielder is a long-term absentee for Liverpool.
Elliott was forced off with a serious ankle injury during last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road.
After undergoing surgery the teenager will now undergo rehabilitation to come back to full fitness.
Thiago Alcantara
Thiago Alcantara could be an injury doubt going into next week.
The midfielder was forced off during the second half of the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace with what looked like a calf injury.
No return date has been set but Klopp hinted that the problem may not be a long-term issue.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
The full-back was a notable absentee against Crystal Palace.
Alexander-Arnold was ruled out of the clash due to illness, with Jurgen Klopp confirming that it was nothing to do with COVID-19.
With that in mind it’s unlikely that the England international will be a long-term absentee.
Neco Williams
The full-back is another player who has been ruled out of action through injury.
Williams was due to link up with the Wales national team for their upcoming international fixtures but had to drop out of the squad due to an unspecified blow.
It remains to be seen what the injury is and Liverpool will need to monitor it closely before he returns.
