Liverpool v Brighton Preparationa
Liverpool are likely to have Naby Keita available for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield on Saturday.
The midfielder has recovered sufficiently enough from the knock sustained at Manchester United last weekend – one that forced him off the field on a stretcher – in order to resume full training.
“Naby Keita looks good; we were all surprised, but he was obviously lucky so I think he will be ready,” Jürgen Klopp told a pre-match press conference on Friday.
The Reds will be without James Milner and Fabinho, however.
Milner picked up a hamstring issue during the first half of the 5-0 win at Old Trafford, while Fabinho remains sidelined with a knee complaint.
Thiago Alcantara has returned to training alongside his teammates following a layoff with a calf injury, but Saturday’s fixture will come too soon for the Spain international.
“With Fabinho it doesn’t look that good, it’s a bit more complicated,” Klopp said. “Not too complicated, but complicated enough to keep him out now again, probably. I still wait for last news, but he was not in team training yet and that is never a good sign.
“Thiago was in team training for the first time yesterday. We did a session where he could be part of pretty much the whole session, [but] that doesn’t mean he is ready to play a football game, unfortunately.
“We will see what we do with him, but he is closer than he was last week, much closer. Now we have to see what we do with that.”
Brighton will definitely be without Dan Burn after he suffered a knee injury during their Carabao Cup defeat by Leicester City on Wednesday night.
But they have Yves Bissouma and Adam Webster available again, with the pair making returns from injury in midweek.
Taylor Richards had a back complaint and wasn't risked for the Leicester cup tie, while Shane Duffy is also now fully fit again.
"He [Burn] had his scan and he won't be available for the trip to Anfield," Graham Potter told reporters on Thursday. "Adam's close to starting. We just need to consider he played 60 last night and see how he recovers.
"He [Bissouma] was good after the game, no problems. It was a pleasing night for us having him back."
Danny Welbeck and Steven Alzate are set to remain sidelined for the Seagulls.
