t's rare for massive clubs to find a bargain in the transfer market but the £7.25million release clause in Takumi Minamino's contract at RB Salzburg is precisely that.

The Japanese forward is having his medical on Merseyside today after Liverpool have moved swiftly to sign a player who impressed in both meetings between the two sides in this season's Champions League, having scored and assisted a goal at Anfield.

Minamino isn't just desirable because of the low transfer cost. Jurgen Klopp has needed adequate cover, if not a straight rotation option for Roberto Firmino for some time; his Liverpool team just isn't the same without the Brazilian and the other strikers on the books are Divock Origi,...
